John (Jack) Roblee Tieszen

MLIS from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Hello, my name is John (though I prefer Jack) Roblee Tieszen and I am an MLIS graduate from the University of California, Los Angeles. I was born in the state of Minnesota and continued my tour of the midwest by receiving a bachelor’s degree in cinema studies and geography at the University of Iowa along with minoring in Informatics. I decided to take my polymathic interests and see if I could apply them all into a single field, which is what led me to librarianship. My main interests lie in academic institutions, more specifically in digital scholarship but I have done much work in outreach, visualization, reference desk, and other forms of librarianship for both public and private institutions. My research focuses are in accessibility and how the construction of space can lead to student anxiety, How the library plays a role in student life, Digital shifts in librarianship, and Storytelling as a useful tool for libraries and archives. I currently work as a Geospatial Resources Librarian at George Mason University.
